Hi,

I'm just looking at various infraread saunas and am quite overwhelmed by the choices and the claims and counter-claims by various manufacturers. I would like to know: Are carbon fibre heaters superior to ceramic heaters (I'm looking at Saunatec/Finnleo and Sunlight)? My goal is primarily detoxification. I have tried SoftHeat, which seemed pretty good, but have been given the impression that ceramic infrared heaters will soon be obsolete.

Ian,
I'm not aware of any evidence that carbon is better for detoxification than ceramic. Its also too early to say that ceramic heaters will become obsolete. For detoxification, good sweat is said to be main prerequisite. So, if you sweat well and feel good throughout and after the session, then infrared sauna model is ok for you. But, ideally, you need to try both models to compare.

Why is menstruation a contraindication for infrared saunas? I find heat is the only thing that alleviates my rather severe cramps and cannot think of anything that sounds better than an infrared sauna at that time of the month.

Please inform!!
