Infrared sauna review: Cedrus Saunas AIS-2000

In this review I’ll cover AIS-2000, a 2-person infrared sauna model by Cedrus Saunas. Here is an overview of this model:

Wood: Cedar (Western Red Canadian Cedar)

External dimensions: Width: 50 in, Depth: 42 1/2 in, Height: 75 in.

Heaters: Ceramic, on the front, on the back panel and on the bench.

Outlets: 120 V, 15 Amps, 1500 Watts.

Accessories: AM/FM CD stereo.

Warranty: Heaters, workmanship and electrical components – lifetime.

Price: $4995 (MSRP)

I saw very few words about AIS-2000 model on Cedrus Saunas official website, and found no significant differences from a common infrared sauna room. Their description is centered on comparison with conventional steam sauna but not with other infrared sauna manufacturers.

One thing they emphasize is the design of their infrared heaters. AIS-2000 heaters have large surface area and claimed to have a good performance on a 4-17 micron infrared wavelength range. This feature makes Cedrus Sauna to have something in common with Sunligh Saunas which has large surface heaters too.

You can download the assembly manual for this sauna (in pdf).

I sat in the AIS-2000 and the 3 person sauna at a tradeshow yesterday in Ft. Lauderdale Florida. They had a “show” special at $3,499 and $3,999 for the 2 and 3 man respectively (which included shipping). The heaters were large and felt great on my back. Neither sauna felt “closed in,” but for $500 more I would go with the larger of the two.

I bought a Therasauna on ebay, but never received it (I got my money back), but my wife said “NO TO INFRARED SAUNA” because we already had a sauna in our new house. After sitting in a sauna, she had a change of heart in that (how do we get rid of our sauna and put in an infrared in its place?

There are no knots in the wood (ceder) It is glued together (which I heard can be bad from other sites). The emitters were encapsulated with suade so they never are hot to the touch (I always wondered about that). It was a great 5 minute experience and hopefully we will buy one down the road, But stay away from ebay…you never know what you are going to get!!!

I do like the lifetime guarantee on everything except the lightbulbs.
Been around for 6 years, but the original developer was part of Healthmate since 25 years ago.

If I think of anything else I will post another comment.

I bought one 3 years ago and enjoying it very much. Before we purchase Cedrus Sauna, my husband and I spent tremendous time on the web studying the difference brands of Infrared Saunas. It was hard to figure out by looking at the pictures because all looked the same. However, don’t be fooled by the pictures & it’s low prices. When I actually saw three different brands at the Home Show, I saw a big difference on the quality between Cedrus & other Chinese inexpensive saunas. We were glad that we waited and made a decision once we saw the products. I use Cedrus Saunas at least five times a week and lost 25 pounds. Can not live without it now.

I bought a Cedrus 3-man sauna three years ago. I am having a bit of trouble with the company — its suppose to be under lifetime warranty — but, they NEVER are available to even talk to me!

    Very unhappy with them.
